Deficiency Symptom , Growth Characteristics , and Nutrient Uptake of ¢¥ Nyoho ¢¥ Strawberry as Affected by Controlled Phosphorus Concentrations in Fertilizer Solution

Hemphill, D D
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to describe deficiency symptoms and to determine critical concentrations of plant and soil when strawberry plants revealed phosphorus deficiency. Phosphorus deficiency developed first at old leaves. Crops got discolored to dark green and purple from edges of them. Especially, the back of leaves turned to purple. Dry weight began to lessen when tissue phosphorus concentration in dry matter was below 0.3%, and fresh weight begins to lessen when phosphorus concentration in plant sap was about 520 §·¡¤§¸^(-1) indicating those were the critical concentrations. Phosphorus concentrations in soil were analyzed to be 94 and 100 §·¡¤L^(-1), respectively, from 0.75 and 1.0 mM treatment. Considering the change of fresh weight, the maximum fresh weight production seems to be possible with keeping the phosphorus concentration in soil solution around 90 §·¡¤L^(-1).
